The Versatility of the Portable PlayStation
With today’s advanced technology, portable gadgets have become more versatile than ever. And one of the best-selling modern gadgets of this kind is the Portable PlayStation (PSP). It is a handheld video game console that is manufactured and marketed by electronics giant Sony. Released on December 2004 in Japan and on September 2005 in Europe and Asia, the PSP has become one of the most successful hand game system ever sold. Sony has sold around 60 million units worldwide as of March 2010.
What makes the PSP so popular among people who love technology? Well, it is mainly because the gadget does more than just run PlayStation games. For instance, the PSP can access the Internet with its special browser, which supports common Web technologies. Further enhancements allow newer models to have browsers that can open websites with Flash. In addition, the browser can be configured to include security features. Also, by using a headset, a person can utilise a newer model PSP to use voice over Internet protocol (VoIP) to communicate with people. Newer models have microphones built into the unit, enabling the user to converse without using an external microphone.
A PSP also has the capability to play music files by extracting them from a memory card. In the same way, it can play video files. With its 4.3-inch LCD monitor with 480-by-272 pixel resolution and 16.9 aspect ratio, the PSP can display good-quality images. Aside from music and video files, it can also store documents and photos. Lastly, Sony has announced and confirmed another addition that could make the PSP even more versatile. Newer models will feature a global positioning system accessory, maps, driving directions, and city guides.
