Healthy Gaming Guidelines

For many people, video games offer lots of fun. In fact, they are so much fun to play that people tend to forget to do a few important things such as getting adequate rest or eating right. Indeed, if they are not careful, continuous playing can be disastrous to their health. Thus, if you are an avid gamer, you might want to take heed of these guidelines to keep yourself healthy while enjoying your favourite games.

First, distance yourself from around 5 to 7 metres away from the television to avoid eye strain. In addition, do not stare at the TV screen for several hours at a time. Try blinking your eyes once in a while to avoid irritation. Furthermore, let your eyes take a break by closing them or watching something else every ten minutes for every hour of gameplay.

Next, sitting on your chair for hours at a time without changing your position can lead to short-term atrophy. Thus, every ten minutes for each hour of gaming, shift your position. It would even be better if you stand up, stretch a while, and walk around the room. You can also do a little bit of exercise while the game is loading up or when your character dies.

Next, if you feel frustrated and angry, stop playing and rest a while so your mind can get a break. Get out of the chair and take deep breaths. Doing this also prevents you from breaking your gadgets due to the anger burning up inside you. Finally, while you are on a break, eat some healthy snacks to allow you to play sharper and better. Almonds, dried cranberries, raisins, apples, grapes, and mashed potatoes are good examples of great brain food.
