Since their introduction in public, global positioning systems (GPS) have been helpful in the location of missing persons or objects as well as in navigating through busy streets. The application of GPS in motor vehicles has aided drivers in finding the most effective route whenever they are in a hurry for scheduled appointments or avoid traffic jams. Also, the invention of GPS tracking devices has given way to the prevention of car theft and the control of a fleet of company automobiles.
Not only is the GPS used for automotive applications. A few notable applications have already existed, such as commercial aviation, military vehicles and ships, and consumer products.
